Like many I succumbed to chopping all my hair off to try the ‘LOB’ (long bob) trend last year and obvi now all I want now is my luscious long locks back. With balayage and colour in the ends of my hair it is continually dry and splitting off, it is also very fine….The task of growing out my LOB has been arduous and annoying but here are my top 5 products which I have seen real results with
1. Heat protectant
Protecting your hair from heat styling is the most important thing when trying to grow your hair, this Toni and Guy mist does a great job without weighing my hair down at all. It also doubles as a great detangler on wet coloured or bleached hair to make it easier to run a brush though it.
2. Dry Shampoo
Holding out between washes by a couple of days gives your scalp time to build up natural oils which helps promote growth. I used to think I had to wash my hair everyday but now I try my best to wash it every 3 days, to try to keep it looking fresh in between dry shampoo has been my go to especially this Pantene one because it is so affordable.
3. Leave-in Hair Treatment
Because of the coloured/balayaged tips of my hair a leave-in treatment helps smooth out the difference in textures from my natural to coloured hair. This Alterna treatment is a bit of a splurge but it works better than anything else I have ever tried.
4. Scalp and Root Treatment
I had never used a scalp treatment before but since I am on a mission for long locks and quick, I thought it was worth a try. This Aveda treatment feels and smells amazing, promising to rehabilitate the scalp around the follicles when massaged in. It contains an invigorating blend of Ayurvedic herbs, including turmeric and ginseng.
5. Flexible Hair Spray
The last thing you want is crunchy dry hair when you are trying to grow it out, this is my favourite hairspray to add texture with, it is seriously amazing and you need to try it if you like to add a wave or texture to your hair but don’t want the stiffness of regular hair sprays.
