Confession time, I have had my trusty GHD styler for about 7 years and it still works just as well as the day I bought it, it has given waves to my naturally flat hair for weddings, parties, meeting and dates hundreds of times over the past 7 years but like Beyonce once sang ‘Partner let me upgrade you’. It was time to try out the next level in styling technology….The GHD platnium.
I’m going to be honest with you, regularly I try to achieve those cool tousled GHD waves but one side of my head is always way curlier than the other. I’ve also tried to get that sleek Rooney Mara look which didn’t suit me at all and I looked like a weird 90’s german techno fan. What I do use it for is to created messy texture into my naturally dead straight hair, it is not a technical process at all – very armature hour. I take small sections and create a kink half way down the length of my hair all over – that’s all.
The difference in the platinum rather than my old GHD (I don’t even know which number it was?!?) is that the ceramic plates are a constant even temperature which makes curling shorter pieces of hair easier. It also comes with this neat little heat-resistant plastic protector which means you can put away your styler as soon as you are finished with it and not worry it is going to melt anything in your drawers. The on/off switch makes a cool whizz noise when you turn it off and on – I really like that because it feels very gadgety and cool.
The quality of GHD stylers is incredible, as proven by the length of time I had my previous one for so for myself I think the $315.00 price tag is totally justified and worth investing in if you use your straightener a lot or if you want to try out some new styling technology.
