I’ve been fascinated with the Kardashians for the entirety of their reality show, watching every episode sometimes 2 or 3 times if there is an E! Kardashians marathon. When Kim got married, when Khloe got married, when Kim got married again, when she freaked out loosing a diamond earring in the ocean, when Kris was Kris all the time. To this point in time my perception of why the kardashians are socially positive was I loved their body image positivity give girls new goals of curves rather than the all too common goal of ‘skinny’.
After 10 seasons Bruce who was always the grumpy moral barometer in the background of the show, has shared a new storyline with the world. What if after all these years Bruce’s story line was the most important? The very impressive and brave Diane Sawyer interview explains Bruce’s gender identity struggle and journey, I was in tears the whole interview thinking about how many lives it would change for the better. The over night Vanity Fair tweeted : “Caitlyn Jenner poses for Annie Lebovitz on the cover of Vanity Fair.” BOOM! #CallMeCaitlyn is the number 1 trending organic hashtag on Facebook and Twitter, that is huge.
Why did I post about this on a beauty blog? Because being your true self if beautiful, for some people it is as easy as a 3 minute makeup routine before they leave the house and for other is takes decades of struggle to become their true selves. Caitlyn will be an inspiration for many people, the more positive discussion and coverage Caitlyn Jenner generates hopefully the more accepting the world will become to transgender people.
Welcome to the world Caitlyn Jenner, and I love that you spelt it with a C!
